Filming kicked off in March for The Block 2026 and we got our first sneak peek of the contestants when they met Scotty Cam for a site tour on day one of filming. This year we have a brand new cast with 5 teams of fresh faces.

There might be spoilers ahead, so read on with caution. Here’s what we know about the contestants so far.

Blue team – Chantel and Wyatt from The Gold Coast

Chantel Green and Wyatt were the first team identified by fans thanks to Chantel’s social media presence and her signature long dark hair and Wyatt’s recognisable tattoos. The couple both have strong social media followings with a focus on fitness, and Chantel is also the founder of Her Form activewear and is a mum of 3, so she’s no stranger to hard work or multi-tasking.

Wyatt is an army veteran and fitness coach, and also has an agency for acting work so we expect he'll be comfortable in front of the camera. He found his passion for fitness after being diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic just before he turned 22.

He says his "mission is to motivate, educate, and show others that no obstacle is too big to overcome."

Chantal and Wyatt also have an app, FindingForm, so are used to working closely with each other and seem to have fun working together, a background that will be handy when working hard on The Block for 12 weeks.

Green team – Tayla and Rick from Melbourne

Tayla Peroomal and her dad Rick were also quickly identified by fans.

Tayla, with her recognisable long-bob haircut, and Rick have the home town advantage, hailing from Melbourne and are also no strangers to hard word.

Tayla runs The Brow Sanctuary in Williamstown and has previously worked as a personal trainer. With a background focusing on aesthetics, we expect Tayla will be working on the design side – although with a personal training background, she’s likely to outperform the male contestants when it’s time to unload deliveries.

While Tayla has a decent social media following of over 17 thousand, her twin sister, Shannen Jai Peroomal, has 222 thousand followers on Instagram and is the co-host of the Still Not Straight podcast. Tayla is also a mum, often sharing sweet gestures on social media.

Rick is no stranger to being on the tools, running his own business, T & S Restorations since 1995, building and renovating homes. That’s well over 30 years’ experience building – but will he be able to keep up with pace of The Block?

Pink team – All-female team

Our all-female team this year is the pink team.

One contestant has long blonde hair with her partner on The Block having light brown hair. The latter was spotted wearing stilettos and a gold sequin top for her first day on site – perhaps these two are our reno rookies for the year?

We’ll update this article as we learn more about them.

Red team – Couple from the Outback

The red team this year entered the competition with their recognisable cowboy hats, looking like they had just stepped onto set directly from an outback cattle station.

Their signature look carried through the promotional photoshoot.

Yellow team – Couple

Our final couple this year is the yellow team. In their promotional photos the female team member was seen wearing her hair in long braids and a skirt while her partner wore a utility shirt over his yellow top, which could hint at a tradie background. Will this potential mismatch in experience be a match made in heaven or a cause for drama?
